Taraba NSCDC Boss reiterates commitment to get rid of criminals in Taraba

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Taraba State command, Ugwuja Edwin has reiterated his commitment to do everything possible to get rid of criminals and set Taraba State a free crime zone. 

The commandant who expresse his commitment while speaking with journalists in Jalingo stated that as part of his command’s various efforts to get rid of criminal elements and other similar security challenges in the state, the command under his watch has inaugurated a Rapid Respond Team shortly after he took over from his predecessor, Commandant Muhammed Usman Waksha.

 

He stated that since the inauguration, the team had been very effective as it has keep criminals in the state on their heels.

 

Commandant Ugwuja identified the arrest of 11 cult members in Taraba State University (TSU) and the arrest of some youths who were vandalizing agro materials that the state government had recently flagged-off to distribute to pfarmers in the state as well as the arrest of a young man who all this while has being using his phone to send fake alerts and rob people of their cash as some of the giant strides the command under his watch has attained in the recent times.

While emphasizing on the command preparedness to go after criminals in the state where ever they are located, Ugwuja noted that apart from the Rapid Respond Team, the command has trained about 55 female squad and their agro-ranger counterparts with intention to post the females officers to schools while the agro-rangers would be posted to some agro allied industries and other strategic places to fish out criminals in those areas.

“We are also trying to improve on intelligent information gathering mechanisms. We have trained a lot of officers in this regard and we hope they are going to do well”. He stated.

Uguwuja lauded the recent operation style in the NSCDC in which female officers are trained for specific assignments, stating that the tactics was yielding positive results.

“In Abuja recently, the female squad were able to arrest job racketeering syndicate. About a hundred youths were been deceived by these criminals to converged at Kubwa in Abuja where they would be taken to Kaduna to receive appointment letters and proceed for training. All was a fake arrangement targeted at kidnapping them to demand ransom.  When our trained female officers got this Intel, they immediately delve into action and they were able to rescue over a hundred people as well as arrested the masterminds of this criminal activity who are now facing the wrath of the law at our national headquarters Abuja”. He stressed.

The commandant further appreciated the cordial relationship that is existing between his command and the government of Taraba State.

He said “the governor himself has been of great assistance to our command. We relate very well. In fact, right now we have written to him to help us with operational vehicles and motorcycles to enable us access places that are not moterable in the state and he has promised us that he is going to provide them for us and refurbish some of the existing ones.

“He has equally promised to refurbish thecommandant’s quarters. We are hoping that as soon as he comes back from his official trip, he would attend to our mail andI assure you it would improve our performances in no small measure”. He added.
