The Taraba Government Science Secondary School Alumni, Class of 1987, has honoured three of its distinguished members for their outstanding professional accomplishments and contributions to the state.

The event, held at the Galaxy Spot in Jalingo, was attended by the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Ahmed Hamidu Kara, and several members of the alumni association.

The honourees include; Dr. Garba Danjuma, Executive Secretary, Taraba State Health Services Management Board, Alhaji Jibrin Kasim, Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission and Alhaji Abubakar Tanko, Acting Executive Secretary, Taraba State Muslim Welfare Board.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee welcomed all attendees, noting that although only three members were selected for recognition, the celebration was for the entire Class of ’87.

He emphasized the importance of coming together to celebrate one another’s achievements and reflect on the shared experiences that have shaped their journeys.

He also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for recognizing and appointing members of the alumni to key positions in the state, describing it as a testament to their competence and dedication to public service.

Delivering his goodwill message, Dr. Kara praised the alumni for organizing what he described as an exemplary and inspiring event.

He described the event as a celebration of success and camaraderie, a gesture he said was both uplifting and commendable.

“In most cases, people gather only during moments of sorrow. But today, this group has chosen to gather in joy to celebrate success, unity, and progress. That is truly commendable.” He noted.

Dr. Kara, who personally presented the awards to the honourees, described them as individuals of proven integrity and capacity.

He urged them to sustain their passion for service and continue contributing meaningfully to humanity and the progress of Taraba State.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, Dr. Garba Danjuma expressed appreciation to the Head of Service and the alumni association for the recognition.

He pledged, on behalf of his fellow awardees, to remain committed to excellence and to uphold the confidence reposed in them in their various official capacities.

While delivering the closing remarks, Prof. Aliyu Tirmidhi congratulated the awardees, describing the recognition as well-deserved. He noted that despite the passage of time and the loss of some colleagues, the group had remained united.

“Despite the challenges of life and the passage of time, we have remained connected. It brings great joy to celebrate one another after so many years.” He said.

Prof. Tirmidhi appreciated all attendees for gracing the occasion and prayed for God’s continued blessings and safe journeys back to their respective destinations.
