Taraba clergy cautions Christians against rebellious unions

A clergy of the Universal Reform Church of Christ (URCC), fondly called NKST Church, Rev. Alex Uchagh has cautioned Christians against indulging in rebellious unions without any recourse to Almighty God.

Rev. Alex Uchagh who is the Resident Pastor of NKST Church Wukari Consistory, gave this caution to brethren while preaching at the occasion of the 1st Quarter Combine Service of TEKAN ECWA, Taraba State Chapter, hosted by NKST Church at the Taraba State Trade Fair Complex, Jalingo.

Preaching on the theme, “The Power of Unity”, Rev. Alex Uchagh said if Christians who are supposed to be embodiment of love, truth and unity continuously live up to their responsibility of working as a body of Christ in all their life styles, they will be able to make ground breaking achievements but when they abandoned the divine unity which was instituted by the Lord and embrace selfish interest, personal gains and glory as well as other unholy life styles, they would provoke the wrath of God upon themselves.

Making reference to the book of Genesis 11: 6 – 9, Rev Uchagh frowned at the arrogant behavior of the children of Noah who without recourse to God, embarked on a fruitless project of building a city and a tower whose top was to reach unto heaven so as to make themselves name.

He stated that God in His wisdom immediately identified the source of their strength and confounded their language which eventually led to disintegration and suspension of the plan.

He called on brethren to shun sentiment on the basis of tribe, church affiliation and doctrinal values but embrace love for one another to enable easy and safe propagation of the word of God to the world.

“If we fail to understand one another, if we refuse to love and tolerate one another, then the foundation of our unity is threatened. Unity is strength. Builders of the tower of babel were ready to build this city up to heaven so they could challenge God’s authority and control over them. Their unity attracted the attention of even God Himself but it did not see the light of the day because it was for evil.

“We may have a family, church, an organization, or a nation with impressive individual talents and other might but we may not be able to achieve our goals because we are disunited. We must learn to work as a team if we want to live in triumph over the antics of Satan and his agents”. He stated.

In their separate goodwill messages shortly after the exhortation, the Chairman, Taraba State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Isaiah Magajia Jirapye, the representative of the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Mr. Ezra God’s will and the Taraba State Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Samuel Amajai all applauded the leadership of TEKAN ECWA for taking a bold step towards uniting Christians in the state and prayed God to reward them bountifully.

Earlier in his welcome address at the occasion, the Chairman, TEKAN ECWA BLOG, Rev. Philip Micah Dopah said the combine Service was a quarterly event aimed at acknowledging and affirming God’s unconditional love for Christians as well as leaders in Taraba State.
Dopah who encouraged Christians to always embrace the spirit of love in order to conquer the enemy appealed to pastors to guide their anointing jealously especially that they are now in political days.

He called on politicians seeking elected positions in the state and beyond to shun all forms of evil but seek the face of the Lord in all their ambitions.
While calling on the CAN chairman to always be at a watch to caution clergy who may abandon their responsibilities and indulge in chasing politician in all their enclaves, Dopah maintained that the integrity and interest of the church must be protected.

He applauded Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku’s efforts towards sustaining peace in Taraba State and encouraged him to continue paying attention to the voice of God in all his decisions.
Dopah appealed to president Muhammadu Buhari to do everything possible to fix the nation’s economy, end corruption, religious intolerance and ASUU strike to enable students go back to their respective schools.

The combined service which was honoured by traditional rulers and political bigwigs in the state, featured prayer points on adoration, confession and thanks giving, Unity of purpose, world peace and security as well as prayers for the State Government.
