Renown publisher advocates for intensive mentorship in Journalism profession

The Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of Worldview Magazine, Mr Williams Ayooso, has advocated for intensive mentorship of up coming Journalists across the country to enable them discharge their duties effectively inline with the tenets of journalism profession
The publisher was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of new officials of Worldview Magazine Chapel in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital
He stated that lack of proper and intensive mentorship of up coming Journalists in the country was gradually posing a major threat to effective journalism practice in Taraba State in particular and entire country at large
Mr Williams therefore, called on senior Journalists and media organizations, to make it a point of duty to train and retrain Journalists under their care, to save the future of the reputable profession
“The manner in which our respectful profession is being run at this time called for proper and intensive mentorship.
“It is quite pathetic that despite the numerous opportunities embedded in the profession, some up coming Journalists no longer see the profession as useful. No wonder, you see most of them digressing to other professions they perceived are more important than our reputable profession
“Again, the advent of social media has worsen situations as any one can easily get information across without stress. These and many more reasons have called for a proper and continues mentorship of these zealous young men and women to save this country as they would be put in the right perspective of the practice of this noble profession
“I therefore, want to call on media organizations and our professionals to stand up and save this profession by taking charge to mentor the young ones on the Knitty gritty of the profession to enable them practice it well”. He stressed.
The publisher who encouraged graduates of the pen profession to avail themselves to practice the profession rather than run to other sectors, also lamented the poor patronage of privately owned media houses in the state, stating that it affects the smooth running of the organisations
The State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr Mathew Eliud Jen in his remarks called on the government and spirited individuals to support Private Media Organizations in the State through active patronage to enable the state gets a vibrant Journalism practice
Mathew Jen also called on the Muslim faithful to use the ramadan period to offer special prayers for Taraba State Journalists and the Journalism profession in the country
Meanwhile, the inaugural ceremony witnessed the swearing-in of Mr Yerima Akila and Mr Muhammed Tikka as chairman and vice chairman respectively, Christiana Babayo and Daniel Mtindiga were inaugurated as Secretary and assistant secretary, Mr Christopher Ingyape was inaugurated as the Financial Secretary while Goodman Dahida and Bitrus Ande were sworn-in as Auditor and treasurer respectively
