Reps Member Distributes Mobility Aids to PWDs in Taraba

The Member representing Ardo-Kola/Lau/Karim-Lamido Federal Constituency, Rt. Honorable Audu Mohammed (AM Lauya) has distributed mobility aids, particularly one hundred (100), Wheelchairs and ten (10) Crutches to people with Disabilities (PWDs) under his Constituency.

Rt. Honorable Mohammed in his speech at the distribution ceremony in Jalingo disclosed that, the aim of his philanthropic gesture was to empower disabled members in his constituency in order to ease their movements and social interactions and as well, to put smiles on their faces.

“We are launching the distribution of one hundred (100) Wheelchairs and ten (10) Crunches to people with disabilities in my constituency as part of democratic dividends and also, to ease their movements and social interactions,” he stated.

He maintained that his zeal and passion to see that social equality and integration is practiced actually motivated him to bring the empowerment programme to light.

“I am glad to welcome you to this historic occasion of the empowerment of one of the important groups of people in our society. I am passionate and emphatic to see that social equality and integration is practiced in our society. This is what motivated me to collaborate with Blue Gate Foundation to assist people with disabilities in my constituency.”he stated

The Honorable member however, thanked the head of Blue Gate Handicap People Centre, Jos, for the fruitful collaboration. He equally lauded Gov. Agbu Kefas for creating the Ministry of Social Justice and Re-integration to address the many challenges of social inequalities and inclusivity in Taraba state.

Similarly, the Deputy Governor of Taraba state, His Excellency, Aminu Abdullahi Alkali expressed gratitude to the member for his kind gesture adding that, it is not just a commendable efforts but also, a challenge to the State Government.

He assured those with disabilities of their commitment to continue making policies and initiating programmes that would advance their welfare.

“I will say on behalf of the State Government that, it is a challenge to us. We are not prepared to allow you go like that, we assure you that if he has succeeded in giving you Wheelchairs that don’t go with fuel, we will try to give you bicycles that you will have people to carry you around.

“We are actually grateful with what he has done for our members in the state. We will continue to do our best to ensure that they live a meaningful life in the society,” he said.

On her part, the Honorable Commissioner for Social Justice and Re-integration Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa, thanked everyone for coming to witness the programme aimed at empowering People with Disabilities in Ardo-Kola/Lau/Karim-Lamido Federal Constituency.

She commended the Honorable member for keying into the Mantra of Dr. Agbu Kefas in moving Taraba forward noting that, his initiative reflects profound commitment to inclusivity and the believe that, every individual regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to thrive.

While responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of People with Disabilities in Taraba state, Mallam Ali Matudi, appreciated Hon. Mohammed for his show of love and concern adding that the programme is first of its kind in the constituency.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the tricycles, calling on well-meaning sons and daughters of Taraba state to emulate Hon. Mohammed to drive home more democratic dividends to Tarabans especially those with disabilities.
