Ramadan: Taraba State Government distributes food Items to students

In the spirit of Ramadan, the Taraba State Government, through the Commissioner, Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Hon James Philip Habu, has provided food items to students of Bali Local Government Area, studying in tertiary institutions across the state

The food items presented to the students include bags of rice, bags of sugar, cottons of spaghetti, cottons of maccolony, indomie noddles, groundnut oil and undisclosed cash

Speaking at the distribution of the items in Jalingo, Hon James Philip Habu, the Commissioner for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation said, the gesture was part of the governor’s efforts to ensure that students in Bali Local Government Area in particular and Taraba State at large, free themselves from emotional challenges to enable them face their studies seriously

The Commissioner stressed that the food items were given to members of the State Executive Council by the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas through the Commissioner of Special Duties and Humanitarian affairs

He said he decided to channel  the items to students because, he understand the challenges they usually face aside their academic battles

“We also know quite well that some parents will still have a burden of how they will provide food for their children in their various schools even as the governor has reduced their school fees by half. So I believe that these food items are meeting them at the right time

“His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas has lesson the burden of their school fees and now he has provided food items for them so that they will not have emotional challenges especially as regard food shortage, so that they will face their studies and do well in their various schools”. He stated

While commending the efforts of Governor Kefas towards improving the wellbeing of the people of Taraba State, the Commissioner noted that aside free education in all public schools and slashing by half school fees of tertiary institutions in the state, the governor had done so much in other sectors including health, agriculture, power and security as well empowerment of youths and women

He encouraged the students to make the governor proud by staying away from all forms of criminal acts, blackmail and other social vices, so as to pass out with impressive results that would take them to places they would be of help to the state

Responding, the students leaders including Comr Sani Yahu, president, Bali students union, Taraba State University, Albas Joseph, Acting President of Bali students Association, College of Agriculture Science and Technology and Isa maiyaki, Secretary General, Bali Local Government Students Union, all expressed appreciation to Governor Kefas and Hon James Philip for taking them by surprise

The students who pledged to support the governor even beyond 2027 to continue the good work, equally commended the leadership qualities of Hon James Philip Habu, emphasizing that “if all leaders were like him, youths in the state wouldn’t have any reason to worry about”.

Earlier in his remark, a Senior Special Adviser to Governor Kefas on transportation, Hon Jerry Tyolanga, lauded the transformative strides of the governor and expressed confidence that his leadership principles would surely, keep the state on the path of unity and progress.
