Briefing newsmen in his office last Tuesday on the different developments the command has been able to attain in recent times, the Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC) Taraba State Command, Muhammed Usman Waksha said the arrests were made through intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance and smart operation of officers of the state command.

He noted that the command under his watch had fixed about eight patrol vehicles specifically in the state capital which undergo twenty four hours surveillance in the state to deter criminals from exhibiting their evil plans.

While expressing the command’s determination to flush out criminals in the state, Waksha said the command had also deployed available personnel to various flash points around the state who are working harmoniously with other sister security agencies to tame the rising wave of crime in the state.
“Among the high profile criminals the command has arrested in the recent days is one Mohammed Gidado who was arrested precisely on the 28th March, 2021 in Jebjeb community of Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, a border community with Plateau State.

“He had been in our wanted list for long, so we got him on that day. We drove all through the night and day and arrive at the state command headquarters at about 9:00pm. While we were trying to enter at the command’s gate, the suspect used a sharp metal he saw in the vehicle to slash his throat and luckily we rushed him to the hospital and he survived.
“He was paraded here at the NSCDC headquarters Jalingo on April 8, 2021. Also, due to the commitment and dedication of our men towards their responsibilities, we recently succeeded in recovering stolen items from some buglers who on sighting our men during a night patrol, abandoned the properties and fled. The suspects all confessed to have committed the crime they were arrested for and pleaded for mercy.” He said.

The commandant noted that investigations to unravel more of the suspects is still on, adding that none of the fleeing gang members as a result of the discharge of their duties would escape their dragnet as they have been spread across the state.

He applauded the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi Abubakar PhD for facilitating the building of a befitting office complex in the state and prayed God to grant him more wisdom, grace and the strength to enable him continue with the good job he is doing towards safeguarding lives and properties of Nigerians.

Waksha equally applauded the level of support and cooperation his command receives from both the Taraba State Government and individuals in the state in its fight against crime in the state and encouraged them to continue with the spirit even as he called on Muslim Ummah to pray for the nation and the leaders during their usual annual Ramadan.
