NCCSALW Applauds 6 Brigade’s Operational Achievements in Taraba.

The North East Zonal Director of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd), has commended the operational successes of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in Taraba State.

Lieutenant Umar Muhammad said Major General Adamu gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Jalingo on Friday, October 3, 2025.

While addressing officers and men of the Brigade, the retired General lauded their contributions to peace and stability in Taraba State through both kinetic and non-kinetic operations.
He noted that the Brigade’s achievements have significantly curbed insecurity and improved the safety of lives and property in the region.

Speaking on the purpose of his visit, the Zonal Director explained that it was part of a sensitization tour to introduce the mandate of the NCCSALW, a centre established to curb the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the country.

He emphasized the agency’s commitment to partnering with security formations through intelligence sharing, awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives aimed at stemming the flow of illicit arms.
Responding, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged the Brigade’s continued collaboration with the NCCSALW.
He reiterated that the fight against the proliferation of small arms requires a collective and coordinated approach, with communities playing a vital role in providing credible intelligence and ensuring vigilance.
Brigadier General Uwa also reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining peace and supporting socio-economic development across Taraba State and the North East region.
