MCDA Commend NEDC for Material Intervention for IDPs in Chanchanji

Mberev Community Development Association (MCDA), has lauded North East Development Commission for the humanitarian/material intervention for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Kufai Amadu, Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State.
Speaking with Journalists in Jalingo today, the MCDA President Takum LGA Mr. Eric Akullah, praised the Commission for the intervention stating that,the gesture is not just timely and crucial but also, commendable.
“I want to on behalf of our people, appreciate North East Development Commission (NEDC) for not abandoning us in our dark moment like others especially, Taraba State Government under the Leadership of His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas who till date, has not find it worthy and duty-bound to visit our Community and see the level of destruction and mass killings orchestrated by armed Fulani militias, “he said.
Mr.Akullah revealed that, the entire Mberev Community have been displaced adding that all the villages including New Gboko, Igbum, Adekpe, Unom, Tyojande among others remain unaccessible,describing the situation as unfortunate, worrisome and dehumanizing.
He lamented the lack of commitment by the Government of Taraba State and relevant stakeholders/authorities to proffer lasting solutions to the renewed attacks on Tiv Communities in Takum LGA and Southern Taraba in general insisting that, Tiv people deserve full protection, peace and freedom to live and do things happily like every other tribe of Taraba State.
“It looks like we don’t have a Leader who is truly concerned about our plight because, all of them are quiet and have abandoned us. The Chairman of Takum, Hon. Benjamin Bako visited our Community in company of the Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier Kingsley C.Uwa and after their visit, we have continue to face series of attacks, killings and destruction of properties further raising more concerns about their true commitment to addressing this unfortunate events,” he stated.
However ,he commended the Member Representing Takum 1 State Constituency,Hon.Tanko Abubakar Yusuf,for passionately making a case for the Tiv people of Chanchanji recently at the House’ Plenary for the first time since inception of the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Similarly,he commended Security personnel for their efforts while calling on Gov Agbu Kefas,other Law Makers and critical Stakeholders/authorities to intensify efforts to end the killings so that people can return to their homes and continue with their daily activities.
