Law maker tasks tribes in Taraba on peaceful coexistence

The Majority Leader and member representing Wukari 1 at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon Jethro Yakubu has charged the various tribes in Taraba State to always live in peace with one another in order to attract development in the state under the present government of Dr Agbu Kefas

Hon Jethro gave this charge while speaking at the occasion of the celebration of Silver Jubilee of the Tiv Traditional leadership in Bali LGA, Taraba State.

Represented by SA designate, Hon James Akaa, the law maker noted that no development thrives in an atmosphere of chios.

He called on the Tiv community to embrace peace among themselves and other tribes, especially in Southern part of the state, to enable farmers go about their farming businesses as it used to be in previous years

Hon Jethro lauded the developmental strides of governor Agbu Kefas, saying that “the governor has introduced a unique perspective to governance.

“His vision for Taraba State prioritizes proactive measures to mitigate security threats and unhealthy rivalry amongst the people, in the administration pursuance of sustainable development, he ensured that all hands are on deck. This holistic approach has resonated with the people of Taraba, transcending ethnic and religious lines”. He added.

The lawmaker congratulated Governor Agbu Kefas for the Inclusive Governance award given him by the Tiv community, describing it as a testament of the governor’s good work among the people of Taraba State.

He equally congratulated his colleague, Hon Veronica Alhassan, member representing Bali 1 constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, the Commissioner for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Hon Philip Habu and the Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor on Political matters, Hon Josiah Kente among others, who were all presented excellent leadership Awards at the occasion

Earlier in his speech at the occasion, Governor Agbu Kefas who was represented by the member representing Bali 1 constituency, TSHA, Hon Mrs Veronica Alhassan, appreciated the Tiv community for honouring him with a prestigious award, pledging that it would rigger him to do more for the state

The governor also lauded the Tiv Community for turning up en mass to vote for him and other members of his political party during the election that brought him on board, reiterating that he would continue to work hard to ensure that peace was sustained to enable people go about their normal businesses across the state.

In their separate speeches at the occasion, the Central Leader of Tiv people of Taraba State and Ter Tiv Bali II, Zaki David Gbaa Tella and the President General, Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Chief James Baka, all commended governor Agbu Kefas for his all inclusive leadership style and appealed with the governor to facilitate the return of the Tiv Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in other parts of the state, especially Wukari LGA

Meanwhile, the Silver Jubilee celebration featured paper presentations, different performances, including “kwaghhiir”, traditional dances and other cultural activities, showcasing the reach cultural heritage of the Tiv people of the state.
