The gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in Benue State, Barr. Herman Iorwase Hembe, has pledged to end reckless killings and other security challenges facing the good people of Benue State if elected as the Executive Governor of Benue State come 2023.
Barr. Hembe made this pledge during the official flag off and inauguration of his campaign team at Ugba, the administrative headquarters of Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The gubernarorial candidate who was accompanied by other candidates of the party in the area, stated that he had enough experience to rule the state having served his constituency at the Federal House of Representatives continuously for a period of 16 years.
He lamented that some selfish politicians who claimed to be political God fathers of the state had looted the treasury of the state for too long, thus leaving the state that is endowed with so much resources impoverish and insecured.
Hon. Hembe cautioned the people to be ware of those politicians whom he said had long specialized in ” stomach infrastructure” and had abandoned their sole responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the people emphasizing that they must have to vote for him and the Presidential Candidate of the Party, Mr. Peter Obi to save the future of the country.
“We want to assure you that we are a group of energetic young men who still have a lot of ambitions and so we can never mislead you.
“We want to assure you that we are determined to do our best to better the lives of our people. We urge you to examine track record of our services to our father lands and give us your mandate to enable us do more. He added
Hembe noted that for the 16 years that he represented the people of Konshisha and Kwande Local Governments at the Federal House of Representatives, he had been able to provide portable water available for the people of the constituency, he had build several classroom blocks across various schools in the constituency and connect the people with the national grid to make life easy for them among other projects too numerous to mention.
“I successfully facilitated electrification of the whole of Konshisha LGA. I also dug over 200 boreholes across the various wards of my constituency with at least one in each of the kindreds. This is not to talk of bridges I have constructed and the large number of youths I facilitated their appointments in different areas of work.
“No wonder, the three terms I served as a law maker at the Federal House of Representative, I won under three different political platform with PDP, ACN which later fused in to APC and Labour Party respectively.
“My people followed me to all these political parties and voted for me because I serves them well despite frustrations comming from old politician who do not mean well for your common good.
“Let me assure you that am determined to do more of these across the state if you give me the mandate”. He stated.
Also speaking, a chieftain of Labour Party in the state, Mr. Peter Vande, assured the people that Labour Party was set to wipe the tears of the Benue State people in particular and Nigeria at large.
He frowned at the attitude of old politicians in the state whom he said had over stayed in power and are now more interested in looting the treasury of the state than serving the people and charged the people to consider the energetic young candidates of the Labour Party for all the political positions in the 2023 general elections and vote out the people he said are the major problem of the state.
He emphasized that Labour party’s administration in the state would effectively addressed all the issues of Local Government autonomy, insecurity, pension and salaries as well as unemployment among other issues especially that the governorship candidate of the party was conversant with the challenges facing the state.
In his comment, the Benue State Zone ‘A’ Senatorial candidate of the party, Dr. Tornger Malu condemned the recent killings in Tse-Mchia by suspected herdsmen and other places in the state and vowed that the Labour party led administration would never rest on its oars towards ensuring that the state was freed from reckless killings and other security challenges in the state in particular and Nigeria at large.
He challenged the youth to wake up and live up to their responsibilities of securing their people through logical reasoning including voting wisely, adding that they should vote out the ruling PDP in the state which had failed in protecting lives and property of the people in the state.
Also, the candidate for the House of Assembly, representing Logo constituency, Hon John Mkom, appealed to the people to give him their mandate, stating that he was the most suitable candidate who would selflessly deliver the dividends of democracy to them.
Hon. John Mkom called on the people to vote for the presidential candidate of his party, Mr Peter Obi, the governorship candidate Barr. Hembe as well as the Benue State Zone ‘A’ Senatorial candidate, Dr. Tornger Malu, assuring the people that he would work hand in hand with the candidates to deliver dividends of democracy to the people if elected in the 2023 polls.
The veteran journalist further advised the people to shun politics of thuggery and avoid politicians who would come to them with cheap items to buy their conscience after they had failed them but vote for him and the other competent candidates of his party in the 2023 general elections for a better Nigeria.
In their separate goodwill messages at the occasion, the chairman of the Labour Party, Logo Local Government Area, Mr Terdue, the Women Leader, Mrs. Mercy, the youths leader Mr. Suurter Saaior as well as the leaders of Ibo Socio Cultural group in Logo Local Government Area, all lamented the challenges the state and the entire country is going through as a result of bad governance of the present administration and pledged that they would work tirelessly to ensure that Labour Party win all the positions in their zone in the 2023 elections.
