The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has denied setting 140 as the official cut-off marks for admissions in to Universities and 100 into Polytechnics and colleges of Education for 2024 across Nigeria.
The Board dismissed the reports on its official X account on Thursday saying that, there is no such thing as cut-off marks in the admission process to tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
“There is no such thing as cut-off marks in the admission process to tertiary institutions in Nigeria, what is obtainable is minimum tolerable score determine by individual institutions,” it said.
The disclaimer is coming barely a day after it was reported that JAMB had set 140 as cut-off marks for admission into Universities and 100 for admission into Polytechnics and colleges of Education across the country.
The statement quoted JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede disclosing the development in Abuja at the 2024 policy meeting of the Board.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Registrars of Higher institutions as well as other senior stakeholders.
