Hunters demand head office to flush criminal elements in Taraba

The Hunters Association of Nigeria North East Region, has appealed to the Taraba State Government to provide an office accommodation for them to enable them coordinate their activities and flush out criminal elements in the Taraba State

The hunters made this appeal Monday, when they paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Taraba State Council.

Speaking during the visit, Umar Umar, popularly known as Babangida Commander, who led the delegation into the popular Oyehkire Press Center Jalingo, expressed dismay over the soaring rate of criminality, particularly in Taraba State and entire North Eastern in general and Called for collective efforts to combat the ugly situation

Babangida Commander said they were at the Press Center to seek for a collective working relationship with NUJ and entire journalists in the State to fight criminal elements in the state to allow innocent people go to bed with their two eyes closed

“We are worried so much about the increasing rate of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state and we are determined to complement our governor’s efforts towards taming down the ugly trend.

“We don’t take pleasure in killing people but we must ensure that peace reign every where across the length and breadth of Taraba State. We work across all the states in the North East, Nigeria but I was personally born and brought up here just like other of my officers here. So we are appealing to the Government of Taraba State to provide an office accommodation for us here in Jalingo.

“This office will automatically serve as our headquarters in the whole of North East Nigeria, where we shall be coordinating our activities to ensure that we leave no stone unturned towards eliminating the bad eggs in our blessed state”. He stated

Umar disclosed that the Hunters Association had in the recent time attained a commendable feat during an outing with the Nigerian Army in some communities in Yorro Local Government Area. He announced that they were able to rescue about 21 kidnapped victims including the son of the Chief of Kwajji, Umaru Buba Nyala who had spent two months in his abductors den.

Applauding the role journalists play in keeping the state in good light as well as in information gathering and decimination, Babangida Commander, encouraged them not to relent in keeping the public abreast of happenings in the state and urged the general public to always give useful information to the association so that culprits could be made to face the wrath of the law

The commander further lauded the efforts of the State Government under the leadership of Dr Agbu Kefas towards fighting crime in the state and expressed the association’s determination to continue to work hand in hand with the government, journalists, security agencies and the general public towards eliminating criminal elements in the state

While responding, the Chairman, NUJ, Taraba State Council, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, appreciated the giant strides and resilience of the association and other Security Agencies in the State towards protecting lives and property of the people.

He commended the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas for doing so much to secure the state and appealed that the governor should support the Hunters Association to help complements the good efforts he has being making in the area of security in the state

The chairman assured the Hunters Association that Journalists in the State, would continue to give them all the necessary support to enable them succeed in their effort towards making Taraba State a crime free state.
