Governor Kefas swears-in 16 LG chairmen, tasks them on improved service delivery

The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has sworn-in the 16 newly elected Local Government chairmen of the state.

Adressing the chairmen and the people of Taraba State shortly after the oath of office was delivered on the chairmen by Justice Nuhu Ade who represented the State Acting Chief Judge at the Gym Hall of Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo, Monday, the governor charged the newly sworn- in chairmen to everage on digital solutions for improved service delivery, data management and communication with the public.

Governor Kefas also encouraged the chairmen to invest heavily in the capacity building of their Local Government Staff, saying that a well trained personnel contributes significantly to the effective governance and service delivery

The governor who congratulated the chairmen on their well deserved positions, expressed confidence that they would approach their positions with a sense of duty, dedication, Unity and inclusivity to build a future where every citizen of Taraba would enjoy the fruit of progress and prosperity

Accordingly, he charged them to always develop and regularly update contingency plans for disaster management in their areas and to always collaborate with neighbouring Local Governments in fostering unity and knowledge sharing, emphasizing that together they can address regional challenges and maximise developmental opportunities, promoting a sense of share responsibility and collective progress.

“As custodians of the public trust, you are mandated to lead with intergrity and diligence. Your two years term is limited yet valuable window of opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of the people you are going to serve

“Your roles are also pivotal in the implementation of the 5 finger agenda of the present administration. I want to remind you that your people nominated you and voted you into power and they expect nothing but the best of services from you

“It is imperative that you work tirelessly to bring about positive change and development to our local cummunities in addition to the outlined agenda of the state government. As you lead, always remember the importance of emergency preparedness.

“Develop and regularly update contingency plans for disaster management in your areas. Being prepared for emergency is not just responsible governance but a demonstration of your commitment to the safety and well being of all citizens”. The governor stressed.

He futher prayed God to grant them wisdom and spirit of compassion and togetherness as they embark on their leadership roles.

While responding on behalf of the chairmen, the chairman, Jąlingo Local Government, Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan, assured the government and the people of Taraba State that they would be committed to giving their utmost best for the peace and daily management of the state in line with the five finger agenda of the administration that bind them together

Hon. Hassan appreciated the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas for fostering a peaceful and successful Local Government election in the state. He lauded the contributions of the entire PDP family before, during and after their elections, mIntaining that the act examplified the unity that defines the party.

Meanwhile, the swearing-in ceremony was graced by government functionaries, organizations, Party loyalists, traditional leaders, different associations and cultural groups amidst heavy security presence.
