Governor Kefas Pledges to Support fallen Soldiers’ families

The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has pledged to offer passionate supports for the legion and families of fallen soldiers to ensure that they live meaningful lives.

The governor made this pledge while speaking at the occasion of the 2024 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day held at Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.

He stated that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes through their dedication in safeguarding borders and communities, would not be taken for granted.

The governor who called for collective commitment in providing the armed forces with the necessary resources for training and care, also urged the public to support their families and the families of the retired members of the armed forces, emphasizing that their resilience deserved the deepest respect of all.

Dr Kefas lauded the Nigeria Army for their relentless efforts in responding to Insecurity threats in the state, and reiterated his determination to continuously give all the necessary support to security agencies in the state in order to achieve a crime free society.

“The history of the state is interwoven with the bravery of the armed forces as they have stood tall in the face of adversity, defending the boarders and ensuring the safety of the communities in the state. I urged people not to forget the families of the fallen soldiers, and pledged my administration readiness to supporting the families and the legion to enable them live meaningfully”. He added

In his remarks, the Chairman of Nigeria Legion, Taraba State Council retired Warrant Officer Samaila Nuhu, pointed out that Taraba State have large number of ex- service Men and women retiree.

Samaila who called for support to the families and widows of fallen soldiers, urged the government to assist them with skill acquisition training to boost their economic base.

He also appealed to the State Government to support the organisation with monthly running-cost and some funds to complete it’s Secretariat and acquire vehicles to enable the legion carry out it’s task with efficiency.

While appreciating the governor for identifying with them, Samaila appealed to the public to support widows of the fallen heroes in the state.

Our Correspondent recalls that the 2024 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day which commenced with Jumaat prayers on Friday, proceeded with a Thanksgiving interdenominational service at the Anglican Cathedral Jalingo.

The event was attended by all the first class traditional rulers in the state, top government officials in the state and senior military commanders in the state. The 6 Brigade Nigeria Army, led by Maj. Gen. Frank Etim, Brigade Commander of the 6 Brigade, served as the Chief Host of the event
