Gov Kefas honours fallen heroes, reinstate commitment to welfare of families

As Nigerian Arm Forces across the country rolled out drums to honour the 2025 edition of the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has reiterated his commitment to continue providing better opportunities for the families of the fallen heroes and the veterans
The Governor was speaking at Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo, during a special parade and wreaths laying that formed parts of the activities that marked the 2025 edition of Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Taraba State
Governor Kefas who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State SGS Barr Gebon Timothy Kataps, stressed the significance of the solemn event, acknowledging the sacrifices of the gallant men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
“We extend our gratitude to the families, especially the wives of the fallen heroes. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. Your unwavering support and resilience deserve our deepest appreciation
“As a government, we will continue to ensure that the families of our fallen heroes and veterans are not forgotten. In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, we are intensifying efforts towards building a system that will ensure better welfare packages, better opportunities and health care, for the families of the fallen heroes and the veterans”. He stated
The governor used the occasion to commend the resilience and steadfastness of the Nigerian Arm Forces and urged Nigerians to uphold the ideals for which the fallen heroes laid down their lives.
“You stand as the shield of our nation, ensuring that our people can leave in safety and security. Our veterans’ legacies are beacons of our aspiration for the generation that follows. Their sacrifices laid the foundation upon which we build and your stories of bravery remind us of the unbreakable spirit of the Nigerian Arm Forces”. He added
The governor encouraged Nigerians to be inspired by the sacrifices of the Arm Forces and contribute positively to the development of their communities and the nation in general
While reiterating his commitment to supporting Arm Forces to operate effectively in the state, governor Kefas said his administration had provided logistical and operational support such as vehicles, communication equipment and other essential resources to security agencies in the state
The governor who donated a whooping sum of 50 million naira to support the launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem, further lauded the efforts of the security agencies in the state, noting that their dedication had greatly improved the security of the state
Meanwhile, the 2025 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Taraba State which featured different activities, commenced on Friday with Jumat prayers at the Muslim Council Central Mosque and windup at the Jolly Nyame Stadium on Wednesday 15th January, with special parade, flying of pigeon and Wreath laying by the governor and other eminent personalities.
