Education: College of Agriculture Matriculates 600 students.

The Taraba State College of Agriculture, Jalingo on Thursday matriculated 600 Students, having fulfilled all requirements to enable them study various courses in the college.

The Provost of the College, Dr. Yakubu Ali Garjila who disclosed this during his key note Address at the Matriculation ceremony said that, the 600 students comprised National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs respectively.

Dr. Garjila, Congratulated the Matriculants for making it to the school to acquire better learning/Knowledge. He equally thanked all invited guests for making it to the occasion despite their tight schedules.

The Provost also specifically thanked the Governor of Taraba State His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the College noting that, his gift of a Toyota Hilux to the Office of the Provost is highly recognized and appreciated.

He mentioned some of his achievements to include, accreditation/reaccreditation of 11 programs, Improved infrastructure among others.

I’m his words, “The first challenge I received was information from the National Board for Technical Education that, Accreditation status of 11 programs have expired since 2021.

“To God be the glory and with His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas and his working Team onboard, the College has fostered the Accreditation of NBT in April and based on reports from the board, all our programs are accredited and re accredited.

“It will also interest you to know that, His Excellency Dr. Kefas has awarded 10 projects contracts to the College to address the long time infrastructural challenge. The projects include, construction of College main gate, Administrative Block, 20 lecture theaters, Male/female hostels, School Clinic and Fire Service Station and work is currently ongoing”.

Dr. Garjila however, noted some challenges to include, monthly running Cost, electricity, mobility and more.In light of these, he appealed to HE Dr. Agbu Kefas to address the challenge swiftly to enhance quality academic standard and growth of the College.

Earlier in his Remarks, Governor Agbu Kefas who was represented by the State Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicholas Namessan congratulated the matriculating students and tasked them to abide by the rules and regulations governing the school adding that,they should study hard to make their parents proud.

Prof. Nicholas also appreciated the management and staff of the College for the good work they are doing to uplift and maintain high standard and quality learning.

“Alot of projects are ongoing in the school which has never been in the past.
I am happy that the newly Matriculating Students are part of His Excellency’s journey of repositioning Education and moving Taraba Forward”, he added.

Namessan reiterated the commitment and willingness of Governor Kefas to address Educational and other challenges in the state and promised to present the requests of the Provost to the Governor.

Kazim Kibon and Jemisi Bomsun who spoke on behalf of the Matriculating Students, thanked God for keeping them alive to witness their Matriculation and promised to remain law abiding during and after their stay in the College.

The Matriculation which marked the 44th in the history of the College, drew from far and near,many dignitaries and representatives of neighboring institutions in the state.

Highlights of the event includes, Cultural displays from the various tribal associations in the College.
