The Nigeria Union of Journalists Taraba State Council today paid a courtesy visit to the new Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan, at the Command Headquarters in Jalingo.
Speaking during the visit, the NUJ Council Chairman, Comrade Matthew Eliud Jen, stated that the Council was there to identify with her and also strengthen collaboration with the Force’s Command for a smooth working relationship.
He noted that it’s necessary for the two to work together, given the nature of their job.
On her part, CP Betty E. Isokpan appreciated the Council for identifying with her. She further pledged to formalize collaboration with the Council and members of the Press.
“Whenever I see journalists, I usually feel at home, and I always see myself as one of you because that was my dream profession until fate took me to another place. “We are here to ensure that the environment is conducive, and we cannot work in the environment in isolation; we need stakeholders’ support, which you also hold a major role, and your operations in our policing cannot be overemphasized. “I have been a good friend of the press in all my places of assignment, and here too, it will not be different,” she remarked.
