Council Chairperson lauds Gov Kefas as troop rescue kidnapped victims

The chairperson of Yorro Local Government Area, Taraba State, Hon Mrs Martina Anthony has attributed the recent success made by gallant officers of Nigeria Army in Taraba State working with hunters, where over 21 kidnapped victims where rescued, to the relentless efforts of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas.

The chairperson who was addressing journalists in Jalingo, the State Capital equally commended the joint operation of the Army officers and Hunters that led to the successful rescue of the victims whom she said had been in the hands of their abductors for over two months

Hon Martina who reiterated the determination of the council towards ensuring that security of lives and property of the people was restored in the council, called on the people to be security conscious and report bad elements to security agencies for prompt action.

Earlier, the leader of Hunters Association Northeast, Umar Umar popularly known as Babangida Commander had told our reporters that the association would continue to work hard untill Taraba State become free from activities of bad elements.

Babangida solicited assistance from the government to enable the association complement the efforts Dr Agbu Kefas is making towards securing the state

While appreciating the Joint security personnel for their display of courage and expertise, Babangida Commander appealed to governments at all levels, to intensify efforts and find lasting solution to the menace of kidnapping in Nigeria

Narrating the challenges he passed through in the hands of the kidnappers, the son of Chief of Kwajji, Umaru Buba Nyala said it was a horrible experience that no one would like to be part of

“Many of the criminal elements were eliminated in the forest. We trekked the entire day we were abducted, hiding in the bushes to avoid being seen by passers-by. We thank God that despite all the huddles, today we are reunited with our families

“I want to thank God most sincerely and also commend men of the Nigeria Army as well as hunters association for their courage and all the efforts they put in to ensure that we left our abductors den”. He stated.

Recall that officers of Nigeria Army in collaboration with Local Hunters Association, recently staged a coordinated operation in Yorro Local Government which resulted in the rescue of over 20 Persons including the son of Chief of Kwajji Umaru Buba Nyala, a student of University of Maiduguri and other persons who had been in the kidnappers den for over two months
