Commissioner, Science & Technology moves to unravel raw matererials in Taraba

The Commissioner, Taraba state Ministry of Science and Technology, Honerarable Usman Muslim Abdulahi, has began frantic efforts to unravel the abundant raw matererials that are lying dormant in the state with a view to fashioning up ways through which they could be harnessed for the good of the people of Taraba State

As part of the move, the Commissioner on Tuesday, paid a courtesy call to Raw Materials Research and Development Council’s Office in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.

Speaking during the visit, Hon Usman Muslim Abdulahi said the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the Taraba State Ministry of Science and Technology and Raw Materials Research and Development Council in order to establish an effective and mutual working relationship aim at unravelling the abundant raw materials in the state that could be converted into tangible products for the good of the generality of the people of Taraba state.

The Commissioner expressed optimizm that the partnership between the Ministry and the Council, would impact positively to the benefit of the good people of Taraba state.

“In line with the Moving Forward Agenda of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to harnessing all the abundant raw materials our state has been given by God. We are aiming at an immediate action where we are going to unravelled all the raw materials that are available in the state so as to put them to use for the good of all including those at the grass root”.

“On behalf of the entire Ministry of science and Technology, I want to say that we shall work closely with Raw Materials Research and Development Council in the state to achieve the desire of our governor, who has come on board with the zeal to transform the state in all ramifications. It is my hope that this relationship will continue to strengthen day by day so that the mission of his excellency will be achieved”. He stressed.

In his response, the Acting Coordinator of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Taraba state, said the Council has long been partnering with the Ministry of Science and Technology and it would not derail on the partnership.

The coordinator who applauded the Taraba State Ministry of Science and Technology for doing so much on promoting and developing utilisation of raw materials in the state however, requested the commissioner to ensure that the council’s proposal for establishment of Raw Materials Resource Centre which was submitted to Taraba State Government during the last administration, sees the light of the day.

He appealed to the commissioner to follow the present administration on the issue with all sense of seriousnessthpointing out that, when the resort is established, it would serve as an avenue for investors to come in and see the various mineral resources that are available in the state.

The coordinator further noted that both Agro and Minerals wiould be displayed at the Resort Centre and students of tertiary institution, could also take advantage of the Centre for their studies and other research works.

He lamented that the properties at the resort Centre were in serious need of renovation and appealed to Taraba State Government to use the counterpart funding to pay for the establishment of the Raw Material Centre in the State as it is done in the neighbouring states like Gombe and Bauchi.
