COMMISSIONER MOVES TO REVIVE ATHLETES, HOSTS BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS

The Taraba State commissioner for youth and Sport Hon. Ibrahim Iman has pledged his commitment to unite athletes in Taraba State to deradicalize the youth and prevent them from indulging in social vice that are detrimental to general wellbeing of the generality of the people.

The commissioner disclosed this while speaking at a dinner he organized in collaboration with the Taraba Sport Council in honour of the athletes and official that participated in the just concluded National Sport Festival, Edo 2020 and won medals.

The commissioner said he was deliberately injecting new ideas in the Ministry in order to reposition sporting activities in the state to make it attractive to youth so as to remove them from restiveness.

“I am very sure that this is the first time a commissioner in Taraba State is hosting a dinner for athletes and the sport council at large. But I want to assure you that this is time to inject new ideas that will reposition the sport activities in the state.” He stated.

The commissioner applauded Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for his various developmental strides and for been a source of inspiration to the ministry and for always responding quickly for their ware fare calls.

He congratulated the athletes and the acting Director of Sports in the state, Comrade Mark M. Ishaku for recording such a feat in his first outing since he was handed over the office in less than two months.

Earlier in his speech, the acting Director of Sports in the state, Comrade Mark M. Ishakuhad stated that he took over from Mrs Yosie Daniel Ayuba less than two month and did not believed that such a wonderful feat could be attained under his directives within such a short space of time.

According to him, such they were denied registration during their arrival because they had not done Covid-19 test. They had stayed outside for about three days without accommodation and food while other states were going on with the competition.

He said they were eventually ushered in but only when they had done the Covid Test and other requirements.
