COAST commences P.G.D programmes, partners FU-Wukari,Uni-Jos for certification.

College of Agriculture Science and Technology (COAST), Jalingo has commenced Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in five disciplines in affiliation to Federal University, Wukari for certification.

The Provost of the institution, Dr. Yakubu Garjila disclosed this in an exclusive interview with our reporter in Jalingo the Taraba State capital while speaking on the progress of the College under his leadership.

He said, a lot of achievements has been recorded under his leadership within the three years he has served the College in the position of Provost. “I first of all Thank God Almighty for giving me the opportunity to serve the College as Provost. I have spent three years as Provost and during this period, there has been a lot of achievements/progress more than before.

“The achievements cut across infrastructure, improved learning conditions/Academic standard, improved staff welfare, improved staff/students relationship, and enhanced partnerships specifically with the Tertiary Trust Funds (TETFUND), National Business Technical Education (NBTE) among many other achievements.

“The College is now running Post Graduate Diploma in four Programmes and as am talking to you now, we have submitted letter to the University of Jos for affiliation/partnership and we are waiting for their reply so any moment, they will start awarding certificates to our PGD students.”

He however, listed the four programmes to include; Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Production, PGD in Animal Health, PGD in Agriculture Economics and Extension, PGD in Crop Production, Forestry and Resource Management, respectively.

Dr. Garjila commended His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas for all his efforts geared towards repositioning the College to match global standard for quality learning and overall academic exercises for the common good of all and sundry.

He further reaffirmed his commitment and dedication to consolidate His Excellency’s Mantra of moving Taraba forward with conscious emphasis on education while, calling on all staff of the College as well as students to give in their very best to progress the institution.
