Army, DSS arrest Gun Running Syndicate in Taraba.

In a decisive joint security operation, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have apprehended a suspected arms trafficker in Taraba State.
As contained in Press statement signed by Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Lt Umar Mohammed, the operation was carried out around Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari Local Government Area.


The Operation according to the statement the operation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib, a native of Belango Village in Karim Lamido LGA, suspected to be a major figure in a gun-running syndicate fueling criminal activities in the region.
During the raid, security operatives recovered a significant cache of arms and other items,
“Items recovered from the suspect during the operation include: 362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 round of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
“The sum of Eight Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand, One Hundred Naira (₦842,100), One black Jing Cheng rubber motorcycle, One Redmi Android phone, One itel phone, Two silver rings and One First Bank ATM card.
“Also recovered were a black Jing Cheng rubber motorcycle, a Redmi Android phone, an itel phone, two silver rings, and a First Bank ATM card.
“The suspect is currently in custody and is said to be cooperating with authorities by providing vital information to aid further investigations and possible arrests” the statement noted.

On his part, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the troops for the successful operation.
Uwa reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to working in synergy with other security agencies to eliminate threats to peace and security in Taraba and its environs.
He also called on the public to continue partnering with security agencies by providing credible and timely information to support ongoing efforts in combating crime across the state.
