The All Progressives Congress APC, Taraba State Chapter has described the announcement earlier made by the Returning Officer of the Rerun Election for Jalingo, Yorro Zing Federal Constituency, Prof Daniel Ayuba, as another hoodwink deployed to discourage its members from coming out en mass to take what originally and justifiably belongs to the party

In a statement issued to press by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Aaron Artimas, the party charged its members to disregard the announcement and come out en mass to vote for the candidate of the party, Dr Aminu Malle in the supplementary election scheduled on the 14th day of February, 2024

The statement pointed out that the Taraba State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Umar Muktar Gajiram, had held a stakeholders meeting yesterday, 9th February, 2024 at the State INEC Office where he, the REC, emphatically declared that all the political parties that participated in the February 3, 2024 by-election would be participating in the February 14th 2024 Supplementary election.

“The Electoral Commissioner informed a meeting of the concerned parties that contrary to the commission’s previous announcement, all the parties will contest the elections in the 10 Registration Areas and 24 polling Units, where the elections were cancelled.

“Flanked by the Commissioner of Police and the Director DSS, Umar Gajiram, assured that a secured level playing ground would be provided to ensure hitch free Supplementary elections.

“We want to state clearly that APC as a disciplined political party is not unaware of the desperate underhand efforts employed by some of its opponents to rig the elections, which necessitated the cancellation of the results in some Units.

“We hereby, call on our members to remain vigilant during the Supplementary elections so as to ensure the success of our party and its candidate, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Malle”. Artimas stated.

Recall that the Jalingo, Yorro Zing Federal Constituency rerun election held on the 3rd of February, 2024 was declared inconclusive on the ground that the margin between the first runner up, the candidate of PDP Sadiq Tafida and the second runer up, the candidate of SDP, Hon Innocent Umar Jabanya, was far below the total number of votes cancelled at the rerun election. The All Progressives Congress (APC) and it’s candidate, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Malle came 3rd at the rerun election

Meanwhile, the supplementary elections would be held in five Registration Areas and fifteen polling Units in Jalingo Local Government Area, four Registration Areas and seven polling Units in Yorro and one Registration Area and two polling Units in Zing.
