AGILE Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Cards Distribution Begins in Adamawa State

From Jethro Zangtang, Yola

The Adamawa State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has commenced the distribution of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) cards across several local government areas (LGAs), beginning with Yola North. The initiative aims to empower adolescent girls and improve school attendance by providing financial support to eligible households.

In Yola North LGA, the distribution exercise was held at General Murtala Ramat College (GMMC), drawing thousands of beneficiaries and caregivers from across the area. The Project Coordinator, Engr. Siddiki Liman, along with members of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), addressed the crowd and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive their CCT cards.

“This is only the beginning of the exercise,” Engr. Liman stated. “We are committed to a transparent, fair, and thorough distribution process that will reach all the 21 LGAs in Adamawa State.”

Following the Yola North event, the AGILE team continued the distribution in Yola South, Lamurde, and Shelleng LGAs. Central venues included Aliyu Musdafa College, Government Day Secondary School Lamurde, and Government Day Secondary School Shelleng. The team is scheduled to move next to Government Day Secondary School Numan.

At every center visited, SPIU officials engaged directly with beneficiaries, assuring them of the project’s transparency and long-term impact. In interviews, many caregivers and beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the AGILE team for the long-awaited intervention, describing the support as timely and impactful.

“We thank the government and AGILE for this support,” said a caregiver in Shelleng. “We will use the funds wisely to support our girls’ education.”
Despite the overall success, the distribution process faced logistical challenges due to the large turnout of beneficiaries. In several LGAs, the exercise took two to three days to complete, and in some areas, the distribution could not be completed as scheduled.

Nevertheless, the AGILE team remains resolute in its mission. The distribution exercise will continue in the coming weeks to ensure all targeted households receive their CCT cards, fulfilling the objectives of the AGILE Conditional Cash Transfer Program
