Action Against Hunger, CARE and Group URD Unite to Boost Economic Inclusion/Social Recovery in Borno State
By Peter Cheman Koti
A consortium comprising Action Against Hunger (ACF), CARE, and Group URD, in partnership with NEEM Foundation, NADA, and REBHI, has launched the second phase of the Lake Chad economic and social recovery project, RESILAC-2.
The launch was marked by a two-day workshop aimed at fostering collaborations among stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.
During the workshop, participants engaged in cross-fertilization of ideas and pooling of resources to meet the project’s goals.
Co-financed by the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD), RESILAC-2 has a total budget of €38.5 million, with €7.94 million allocated to Borno State.
The project will be implemented over five years, until the end of 2028, in three local government areas, Jere, MMC, and Konduga.
The project aims to strengthen the resilience of communities in the Lake Chad region, which has been affected by insecurity, climate change, and humanitarian crises.
Key objectives include economic recovery, social cohesion, sustainable land management, and provision of clean water, quality healthcare, mental health support, and economic empowerment, with a focus on women’s emancipation from poverty.
The consortium, spearheaded by Action Against Hunger, will work alongside relevant state actors, each handling a unique component of the economic and social recovery drive.
