Dangote Petition: LND Calls for Thorough Investigation into NMDPRA CEO Allegations

The League of Northern Democrats (LND) has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into allegations of misconduct made by Alhaji Aliko Dangote against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Ahmed Farouk.

According to the Statement,
the LND emphasized the need for a comprehensive and open investigation, given the prominence of the personalities and institutions involved.

“The allegations, if true, could have far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s economy and the integrity of its regulatory frameworks, “the Statement reads in parts.

The LND noted further that the strategic importance of the petroleum midstream and downstream sector to Nigeria’s economy, energy security, revenue generation, and industrial growth cannot be overstated. As such, the allegations raised in the petition must be treated with the utmost seriousness, objectivity, transparency and fairness.

The League urged all stakeholders to remain calm and respect institutional processes, avoiding actions or statements that could obstruct the pursuit of truth or prejudice ongoing inquiries. It also emphasized the importance of transparency in handling the matter to prevent misinformation, speculation, or politicization that could undermine economic stability or public trust.

The LND reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, public trust, and the protection of Nigeria’s critical national economic interests. A clear, fact-based outcome, communicated responsibly, will serve the national interest and uphold the rule of law, ensuring that neither status nor influence is accorded undue preference.

The allegations involve the leadership of a critical regulatory institution, and as such, the League believes that comprehensive, open, and thorough investigations are necessary to address the issues raised.

Furthermore, the LND called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation, ensuring that all parties are accorded due process and that no conclusions are drawn until a fair and professional inquiry is concluded.

The League emphasized that transparency and accountability are essential to maintaining investor confidence, market stability, and national economic security.
