Troops Arrest Suspected Gun-Runner, Recover AK-47 Rifle in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a raid operation in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, which was part of the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, was carried out on 12 November 2025 at Shagada Village under Namnai Ward, following credible intelligence on the suspect’s activities.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Mr. Abdulmudallabi Audu, was found in possession of arms and ammunition.
Items recovered from him include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The statement noted that the suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in the custody of the 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace and security.
He urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace across the state.
