The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, has arrived in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on an official visit aimed at assessing the developmental projects executed by the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Comrade Yahaya, who touched down in Jalingo on Friday, was warmly received at the airport by the Taraba State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Matthew Jen, alongside members of the State Executive Council of the union.

Speaking shortly after his arrival, the NUJ President said his visit was part of an engagement tour to strengthen ties with journalists across the country and to witness firsthand the transformation taking place under the Kefas administration.

“I have been hearing about Governor Kefas and the remarkable projects his government has embarked upon. Now that I am here, I can see visible signs of progress, especially in the area of infrastructure. It is our hope and prayer that the governor sustains this tempo so that the aims of his administration will be fully actualized.” Yahaya remarked.

Comrade Yahaya also used the opportunity to commend the Taraba State Council of NUJ for their resilience and professionalism, despite the numerous challenges facing the journalism profession.

He urged journalists in the state to continue upholding the ethics of the profession by ensuring balanced and factual reportage, emphasizing that the media plays a vital role in promoting good governance and development.

“I must commend the Taraba NUJ for their steadfastness in the face of challenges. Your commitment to truth and fairness is commendable. Keep up the good work,” he said.

The NUJ President is expected to embark on an inspection tour of some of the projects executed by Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration during his time in Jalingo.

His visit is also seen as a morale booster for journalists in Taraba, as it reaffirms the national body’s support for grassroots media development and professional excellence.
