TROOPS OF 6 BRIGADE DISLODGE BANDITS’ HIDEOUTS, RECOVER AMMUNITION IN TARABA.

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully dislodged several bandits’ hideouts and recovered arms and a motorcycle during a series of clearance operations under LAFIYA NAKOWA in Taraba State.

The operations, conducted across Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas, are part of ongoing efforts to flush out criminal elements and restore peace in the region.

According to the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Lt Mohammed Umar, the troops were acting on credible intelligence on bandits’ activities around Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and Kando in the Tati area of Takum LGA, as well as reports of farmland destruction in Ussa LGA, the troops launched simultaneous operations on 5 October 2025.

The statement noted that during the offensive, Team A advanced into Tarhembe and Tornyi, where they encountered armed bandits. The troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to flee into the surrounding forest.

The troops recovered: 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 AK-47 magazine, 1 motorcycle

Also, Team B conducted clearance missions across Lissam in Ussa LGA through Kutukok, Konkan, Fank Utaih, Kijwu, Kutukwo, Kwesati, and Alaha and while no contact was made with the enemy, several suspected bandit camps were destroyed to deny the criminals freedom of action and safe haven.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and resilience, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.

He emphasized that the ongoing clearance operations have further disrupted the activities of criminal elements and reassured communities of the Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Taraba State.
