Takum Tiv Youths condemn the gruesome Murdér of Taraba monarch,condoles family

The Tiv Youths of Takum local government, Taraba State has in strong terms, condemned the gruesome Murder of the late Gara of Chanchanji,His Royal Highness,Alhaji Tanimun Kumbyera and his son, Yusuf and condoled his immediate family and the people of Chanchanji.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the interim leader of the association,Barrister Boniface Iorkumbur and made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

“We the Takum Tiv Youths condemn in strong terms the gruesome Murdér of the late Gara of Chanchanji His Royal Highness, Alhaji Tanimun Kumbyera and his son Yusuf.”

The association condoled and sympathized with the late Gara’s family and the entire people of Chanchanji and Takum by extension.

“We wish to express our deepest condolences and sympathies to his family and the entire Chanchanji community during this difficult time.”

The Association however, commended Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State for his prompt action in addressing the rising tension in the area.

“We commend His Excellency,Dr. Agbu kefas,the Governor of Taraba State for his prompt action in addressing the rising tension in the area, including the imposition of a curfew.the Governor’s swift action has been instrumental in maintaining peace and order in our community after the sad incident”,the statement read.

The association pledged support to the government’s decision to conduct a thorough investigation.”we fully support the government’s decision to conduct a thorough investigation into this tragic incident with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“The ongoing insecurity in the area has negatively impacted the economic and social well-being of the people and we urge the government to as a matter of urgency,find a lasting solution to these problems.”

The association maintained that historically,the Tiv and Chamba communities have peacefully coexisted with out any record of conflict in Chanchanji community adding,that the incident is a criminal act and should be treated as such.

The association expressed displeasure and deep concern on the unfounded accusations and ethnic profiling orchestrated by some social media miscreants who do not mean well for the peace and unity of the community.

“We are disheartened by the unfounded accusations and ethnic profiling circulating on the social media. Some of these posts are capable of inciting the youths of the area to take laws into their hands”.

The association further called on those mischievous attention seekers and war inviters to desist from the act.

“We want to call on such war mongers to desist from such inciting social media posts and cooperate with the authorities to bring peace in the area.

“We call on all the peace loving people of Takum and the Chanchanji community in particular to remain calm and law-abiding as we await the outcome of the government’s investigation”,the statement reads in parts.

Recalled that, the 3rd Class Chief Gara of Chanchanji and his son were murdered by unknown gunmen on Friday July 19th along Takum-Wukari road while returning from a burial program.
