Governor Agbu vows to make Taraba youths job creators

The Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, has vowed that he would do everything humanly possible to ensure that he make Taraba youths to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The governor made this vow in Jalingo while delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of a three day and first Taraba State Youths, Economic and Security Summit held at the Gym Hall of Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo
Governor Agbu who described youths as a driving force of the furture of any society, pointed out that Taraba State was blessed with vibrant and dynamic youth demography, full of creativity, energy and entrepreneur spirit and it was the responsibility of his government to harness and channel those potentials for economic growth and security of the state.
He said the state was confronted with a lot of challenges that were hindering its steady growth but noted that within every challenge, lies an opportunity and so his government would cease the moment to chat a new course for the good of the entire people of the State.
In his words, “we will work hard to empower our youths, promote economic prosperity and ensure the safety and security of our people. We will also create an enabling environment that will promote entrepreneurship and innovations.
“We will invest in vocational trainings and skill development programs. We will promote mentorship initiatives to equip our young people with the necessary tools to prosper in this modern economy.
“By doing so, we will unlock their potentials and enable them to become job creators rather than job seekers
“We also understand the importance of infrastructural development in driving economic growth. As such, we will engage in improving critical areas such as agriculture, tourism, education and health care to create a conducive environment that would attract investors into our dear state”. He added.
The governor further noted that his administration had recognized that security was the fundamental pillar of development and so it would remain committed to raising the security architecture of the state by collaborating with relevant stakeholders, community leaders, youth organizations and security agencies to ensure peace across the length and breath of the state.
He said the administration was going to develop strategies that would address the root causes of insecurity in the state in order to tackle them and promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of the State.
While reassuring the youths of his readiness to lift them out of the dreaded jaws of poverty, the governor emphasized that the success of their summit would be measured not only by the quality of discussions and ideas generated during the session, but by concrete actions that he would take after the summit.
He disclosed that after the summit, he would esterblish an implementation committee, comprising of representatives from various sectors to oversee the execution of the recommendations that would be made at the end of the summit.
The governor commended the commitment of the organizers of the program towards the furture and well being of people of the state, adding that the submit was a testament of the belief in the power of collaboration and a reflection of the enough potentials that lies within the youths of the state
Dr Agbu said the occasion had also provided a unique way, to engaged in meaningful conversations, share ideas and develop innovative solutions to the challenges that are facing the people of Taraba State.
Our reporter who witnessed the opening ceremony reported that the Three-Day summit, brought together policy makers, experts, business leaders as well as talented and most ambitious youths, selected across the 16 Local Government Councils and the Special Development areas of the state.
