Rerun Elections: INEC Declares Former Taraba Speaker, Useni Winner.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Sunday declared the former speaker Taraba state house of assembly, Hon Mark Bako Useni winner in the rerun election for House of Representative to represent Ussa, Donga, Takum federal constituencies.

While declaring the result of the election, Prof. Luka Juma, the returning officer, Ussa, Takum, Donga federal constituency stated that Useni, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC polled a total of 25929 to win the election.

Juma stated that the second runner, candidate of the New Nigerians People’s Party NNPP and a serving member of House of Representative for the Ussa, Takum, Donga, Hon Rimande Shawulu scored, 25350 while the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP Hon. Istifanus Gbana scored 20234 to come third in the keenly contested election

In his acceptance speech, Useni urged those who contested in the election him join hands with him to serve the people better.

He stated that the area where he was voted to represent at the national assembly happened to be the most disastrous area in terms of insecurity and displacement of persons.

Also speaking with journalists shortly after the declaration of his victory, Mark Useni said he would give priority to the return of Internally Displaced Persons IDPs within the area.
