Taraba CTC chair strategizes to sustain unity, Organizes Football competion

The Caretaker Committee (CTC) Chairman of the heartbeat of Taraba State, Jalingo Local Government, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, has been making Frantic efforts towards sustaining the peaceful coexistence of the people of the capital city.

As part of the efforts, the CTC chairman had organized a Football Competion, Code named “Jalingo Local Government chairman’s 2022 Unity Cup Competition which was played between the 10 council wards of the Local Government.

The exciting exercise which climaxed at Afolaham Square, Jalingo with a final match played between Yelwa Council Ward Vs Abare Council Ward brought together plethora of young men, young girls, old men and women of different strata of the Local Government and beyond who voluntarily join to be part of the history making event.

At the final match which was played on Tuesday, 17the January, 2023 at Afolaham Square Jalingo, Yelwa Council Ward tackled Abare Ward to emerged the winner of the trophy which was presented to them at the end of the competition.

The keenly competed final match which ended in penalty shoot out after a one/one draw during the normal play time, yielded a total of 5 goals for Yelwa ward, the winning team while Abare Ward ended up with only 4 goals to emerged second position.

Adressing the youths shortly after the match, the CTC chairman, Jalingo Local Government Area, Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan who was represented at the occasion by the Leader of the Council, Hon. Umar Usman, said the idea of the competition was conceived to unite the people.

The Leader of the Council, Hon. Usman Umar kicked the ball on behalf of the CTC chairman to signal the commencement of the climax of the competition, the finals. He is flank by other Councilors and some Local Government officials 

Hon. Jauro advised the youth to maintain decorum and acceptable behaviour as his administration continues to work fervently for the development of the council.

“Let me put on record that this competition was not made to be a do or die affair but an avenue for unity, tolerance and harmonious coexistence. As a result of this, let me say again with a loud voice that there is no winner or loser in today’s competition.

“This is because we are all brothers and must see ourselves as one and not divided by mere sport”. The CTC chair emphasized.

He appreciated those who started the competition but could not make it to the final and encouraged them not to consider themselves as losers as according to him, all the councils had done extremely well and had made the entire Local Government Area proud.

While appreciating stakeholders, traditional leaders and all the youths for their unflinching support for the success story of the council, Hon. Jauro solicited for more of such support and cooperation to enable his administration achieve its dream of a better, safer and developed Jalingo LGA Council where all of them would be proud of.

He noted that his administration which is anchored on “Jalingo first in every consideration” had so far, engaged in so many developmental endeavours such as youth empowerment, rural roads grading, market remodelling, women empowerment and boreholes repairs among many other valuable projects in the council.

In his remark at the occasion, the Galadima Muri, Aba Tukur Aba, applauded the efforts of the CTC chairman, Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan towards sustaining peace in the Local Government Area and urged the people to complement the chairman’s efforts by been their brother’s keepers.

The traditional leaders who pledged that the traditional institution would continue to support the efforts of the CTC chair in his quest for peaceful co-existence in the council, also used the opportunity to encourage youth to go out en mass and obtained their PVCs so as to be eligible to vote in the forth comming elections.

Meanwhile, prizes and honour were giving to the deserving actors at the competion with Abdullazir of Yelwa Ward receiving a boot for the best player of the tournament, Riwanu Muhammed also of Abare Ward clinched the prize as the top scorer of the tournament just as the Yelwa’s Kabiru Usman emerged Best goalkeeper of the competition.

Also, Certificates were presented to the third and fourth position teams, ten certificates presented across the whole ten wards and one medal each, presented to the Match Commissioner, Mrs Elizabeth Luka and her three referees respectively.This is even as each of the players received a Medal at the occasion.
