Taraba PRP suspends State chair over alleged misconduct

The Taraba State Chapter of the People’s Redemption Party PRP, has indefinitely suspended the state chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Maikasuwa over allegations of misconduct and fraudulent acts.
The party replace Abdullahi Maikasuwa with Idris Umar as acting state chairman of the party.
In a press press briefing in Jalingo, which was attended by members of state Exco and over eleven Local Government chairmen of the party in the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, the party alleged that Comrade Maikasuwa had failed to give a credible account of half of the money he collected from the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state, Engineer Josiah Wukari Wasa to rent secretariats of the party in the various sixteen Local Government areas of the state.
Reading the resolutions of the party on behalf of the State Exco and the party chairmen of the various Local Governments of the state, the state secretary, Mr. Nairobi Usman Tafida alleged that apart from the failure of the embattled chairman to give account of the said money, he had kept on defrauding party members and changing Local Government Executives without following the party guidelines.
“He has collected money from aspirants and candidates in purchase of membership cards in which by our estimate, we are supposed to have Ten thousand (N 10,000) membership cards. Yet no Local government is having up to three hundred (300) membership cards.
“He kept asking LGA Chairmen of our great party to bribe him for rewards in the party hierarchy.The chairman scuttled 30,000 naira from the money sent to our Secretariat by the National Secretariat for Taraba State summit without even giving proper report of the amount he expended during the summit.
“Again, as we have 16 Local Government Areas in the state plus Yangtu Development Area, it is believed that every LG should have a representative in the State Executive with one National delegate for Yangtu Development Area but unfortunately, Comrade Maikasuwa had decided to use his position to allocate four seats to his in-laws and cousin in his Local Government, Wukari.
“He took a personal and selfish decision where he barred the GSM number of the State Secretary, Mr. Samuel N Emmanuel from receiving party alerts since February, 2022 and subsequently, he removed him from the State exco just to attain his personal and selfish interest
“Aside these, he had equally gone ahead to personally removed the Chairman of Bali Local Government Area without any cogent and convincing reason.
“As a great party with a history of over 60 years old we can not fold our hands and be governed by corrupt people like Abdullahi Maikasuwa”. Part of the resolutions reads.
It called on the general public and it National Secretariat of the party to disregard any Correspondent signed by Abdullahi Maikasuwa as as he is no longer the chairman of the party in the state.
The party equally notified all security agencies to henceforth, disassociate themselves from any dealings with Abdullahi Maikasuwa as PRP state chairman of Taraba State, maintaining that his leadership had continue to lead party members astray and may lead to reducing the popularity of the party in the state thus jeopardizing the chances of the party from winning the Governorship contest come 2023.
