NSCDC, Garrison win inter security agency sport competition in Taraba

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Taraba State and the 6 Brigade Garrison, a Battalion of the 6 Brigade Command Jalingo, emerged overall winners at the just concluded sports Week and Inter- Agencies sports competitions in Jalingo.
Announcing the results of the competition which was organized by 6 Brigade Command, Jalingo shortly after the finals were played, the Brigade Staff Officer in charge of Physical training, Major Jega stated that Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) scored the highest points to emerged first in tug of war competition and overall best among the sister Agencies just as 6 Brigade Garrison emerged overall winner among the battalions of the 6 Brigade Command that took part in the competition.
Major Jega congratulated the winners and commended all the officers for conducting themselves peacefully at the inception of the competition to the end.
Addressing the officers shortly after presenting awards to the deserving teams after the completion of the Sports Week and inter security agency competition, Brig. Gen. Frank Etim the Brigade Commander stated that the Programme was designed to among other things, create an avenue to test the officers’ fitness.
He said the competition was designed to improve the Officers physical fitness and endurance as well as foster unity and cooperation among security agencies.
He mentioned security agencies brought together to include; Nigeria Army, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Security Services (DSS), Nigeria immigration Service (NIS) Federal Roadsafety Corps (FRSC) and Federal Fire Service (FFS).
“The men you see here are the same men in the bush. They are the same men in the jungle and in the mountains who have been trying to make sure that Nigeria is peaceful and safe.
“After the hard jobs, we feel it was time we pull them out here to recreate. We aim at ensuring that they are well and Physically fit to carry on their various assignments in the defence of the country and of course, fitness as you know, is a very critical aspect of military life.
“For the Agencies, the sports’ week afford us the opportunity to interact and reunite as one people and as one happy family, all join in the defence of our dear country, Nigeria”. He stated.
Earlier in his remark, the guest speaker of the event, the Permanent Secretary, Home Affairs and Special Services, Dr. Ahmed Kara, urged the officers to maintained the cordial relationship gained during the competition and translate it to be effective in all joints operations and other activities.
The permanent Secretary who commended the efforts put in by all the participants at the competition also applauded the leadership of 6 Brigade Command, Jalingo for the laudable initiative of creating an avenue for officers of the Military and the sister security agencies to interacts and strengthen their cordial relationship.
While congratulating the winners on their victory, the Permanent Secretary, urged them not to rest on their oars but to improve on their skills so as to sustain their victory.
DR. Ahmed Kara who e expressed hope that the relationship gained during the competition would be beneficial to the respective services and agencies, further urged the losers of the competition not to loss hope but to put more efforts in the next competition, adding that in every competition, there must be a loser and a winner.

Worldview Magazine reported that after three days of the heated but exciting competition in the various games including, Table tennis, Badminton, Volleyball and Tug of War, the officers converged at the Motel, where the finals were played and prizes presented to the deserving winners.
