Bad leadership, cause of challenges bedeviling Nigeria – Sarki

Jethro Yerga, Jalingo

A former president of the Senate and Presidential aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Bukola Sarki has identified bad governance as the major cause of all the challenges that Nigeria is passing through.

Dr. Saraki stated this on Wednesday when he visited Taraba State to canvass for votes and support from the delegates of the party in the state ahead of the party’s primaries.

He stated that the country has gone through a lot of challenges over the years especially on issues bordering on security and economy as a result of bad leadership and therefore, it has become necessary for  the delegates to consider the future of the country and their children and vote wisely at the primaries of the party.

In his words, “we can not have the same type of leaders tomorrow as we have today. 2023 is about the future of this country and our children. This country has gone through so much challenges and we need to do things differently.

“The Country has become so divided and we can’t afford to use sentiments to vote. We must do it right for the sake of those who died for no fault of theirs.

“We need a President that understands the economy and has vision for investment. We must restructure the country in order to return it to the path of true federalism”. He stated.

While calling on the deligates to give him their votes, Dr Sarki insisted that he is the best among all the aspirants, emphasizing that he has the boldness, courage and understanding that can fix the economy of the country and rescue it from its current security challenges.

He noted that he is a team player, and would do all in his might to unite the country and cement the loopholes of distrust created by the present administration if given the mandate to run as President under the platform of the PDP.

He maintained that he had deployed wealth of his experience while serving as the Executive Governor of Kwara State and transformed the State positively through his agricultural revolution, adding that the revolution had made Kwara State the largest livestock producer in Nigeria till today.

The former Senate President reiterated that if elected President, he would invest so much in mining and agriculture to create industries and attract foreign investors in the country.

He maintained that, it was high time Nigeria make use of technology to end banditry and impunity,  assuring that he was ready to stand for the country.

Dr. Sarki recalled that he was persecuted as Senate President of Nigeria by the Executive Arm of Government in the country but was able to overcome because he is a team player and his colleagues stood with him.

While responding, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku described Dr. Sarki as a competent and courageous leader who has good credentials to lead the country to a greater height.

The governor who lamented the pathetic condition of the country at the moment, urged delegates and Nigerians to vote base on competence, so as to have some one who would be able to tackle insecurity and fix the country’s economy.
