Amaechi reveals the major problem of Nigeria
Jethro Yerga, Jalingo
The immediate past Minister of Transport, former Governor of River State and Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has said that the major problem of Nigeria is not leadership and other factors as believed by some people in the Country but the inability of voters to decide on who takes a leadership position base on his past records.
Amaechi who was speaking at a special session in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital where he canvassed for votes from the state’s deligates for the forthcoming APC presidential primary elections, revealed that Nigeria is facing lots of challenges because electorates had continued to fail in their responsibility of holding their leaders accountable.
He stated that if all voters in the country would cultivate the spirit of voting leaders into power base on track records of their achievements, the problems of the country would be better imagined than experienced.
“If all voters decide to hold their leaders accountable and vote into power, leaders base on what they have done in the past, this country will be transformed in no distant time.
“The reason why our leaders are refusing to change is because there is no punishment for their wrong decisions. Do hold them accountable and and if they failed in their responsibilities, don’t vote for them if they come to you for the second time.
“I always ask people to judge me base on my past records including corruption. I was the Executive Governor of River State, go and see what I did in the areas of security, education, health and electricity among other sectors. Trust me on service delivery, trust me on honesty and security of lives and property”. He beconds.
Amaechi who further flaunted his capacity to deliver Nigeria from all its predicaments maintained that he is the most qualified, experienced and bold aspirant among all his counterparts seeking for the APC Presidential ticket in the country.
He recalled that he had served as the Speaker, River State House of Assembly for eight years, Executive Governor of River State for eight years and Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for seven years and in many other capacities as Such, he had gotten enough for him to transformed the fortune of Nigeria.
He appreciated God for the numerous resources bestowed in Taraba State including agricultural resources and the Mambilla Hydro-electric power, pledging that he would invest so much in the Mambilla Project and expand President Muhammadu Buhari’s Agricultural Transformation policies especially in Taraba State to better the lives of the people in the state if he is elected president of Nigeria.
While responding, the Taraba State Chairman of the APC, Barr. Ibrahim Tukur Elsudi applauded the leadership disposition of Hon. Rotimi Amaechi describing him as a grassroot politician who rosed from the position of a Member, River State House of Assembly to be Speaker, Governor and Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Elsudi who noted that most of the Taraba State deligates are legislatures, assured the august visitor that 90% of Taraba State votes are for him as the deligates are most comfortable with him as birds of a feather.
The chairman however drew the attention of Rt. Hon. Amaechi to the fact to hat Taraba State has been shortchanged in the power sharing formula of the present administration.
“In the previous elections, we gave the president 324,909 votes which is about 48% but it is quite unfortunate that with all the votes, the State does not have even a single person as Chief Executive officer of any Board of Parastatals. Please if you emerged as the President of the country, which we know you must, remember us in the kingdom”. He stated.
