College of Education Zing matriculates 1,366 students

Taraba State College of Education Zing, Wednesday, matriculated 1,366 students presented by the Six Deans of the various Schools of the institution at the College Auditorium 1, COE Zing.
The occasion which became the 43rd Matriculation Ceremony of the College, had 462 students matriculated in the School of Art and Social Sciences, 101 students are in the School of Languages, while 284 students are for School of Sciences.
Also, 271 students took matriculation oaths in the School of Vocational and Technical Education just as 248 students took theirs in the School of Early Child Care Education/Primary Education Department (ECCE/PED)respectively.
Speaking shortly after administering the matriculation oath on the students, the Provost of the College, Dr. Mike Dio Jen Congratulated the students for officially been inducted into the prestigious institution and charged them to face their studies with utmost attention so that the sacrifices which their parents had made to train them to this level would not be washed down the drain.
The Provost who was ably represented by the Deputy Prost, Dr. Philip Nuhu Ande, Said the college is a famous institution of higher learning which is renowned for its excellence in the quality of teaching and its end products and urged the newly matriculated students to make the best use of the opportunity offered them to make hay while the sun shines.
“You are inducted into this citadel of higher education for training in character and in learning. As you may be aware, College of Education Zing is a Pacesetter among all the Colleges of Education across the length and breadth of this country.
“It is on record that over the years, the college had won accolade from different quarters on the quality of its products strictly base on its mandate. As such, the management staff, Academic Staff and Non-academic Staff of this institution will not betray the labour of our heroes past.
“Let me Call on the students especially the matriculating students to be law abiding. Do all to shun cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressings and examination malpractice.
“Do not be party to any clandestine activities of gangsters, do not vandalize seats, pilfer library books, destroy electrical fittings or any facility meant for the general good of the college community.
“So many students who had been caught in such vices in the past were not spared the excruciating weight of the sledge hammer. The school would not hesitate to apply the same on you if you are find wanting in any case of misconduct which is proved beyond any reasonable doubt”. He cautioned.
Dr. Mike Dio who is now the 14th Provost of the College, further assured the students that the College on its part would do everything possible within the ambit of the law of the land to protect and defend them in order to make their stay at the institution a memorable one.
He applauded the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku who through the Ministry of Tertiary Education had stood with the institution through thick and thin and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman Sambo, Kpanti Zing for his commitment towards sustaining what the institution stands for in Zing and the Mumuye Kingdom Worldwide.
Meanwhile, the matriculation ceremony was graced by Heads of various Departments (HODs), Directors of programs, Deans of Schools and other principal officers as well as parents and well-wishers of the matriculating students.
Highlight of the ceremony was the performance by the Taraba State Cultural troupe, administering of matriculation oath on the students and a play late presented by the School of Languages of the College.
