Responsiveness breeds responsible governance, Hon Agbaizo tells Tarabans.

The Executive Chairman, Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, (TSUBEB), Dr. Yakubu Danladi Agbaizo has said that having a responsible government and building a nation that will be beneficial to everyone requires the contribution of everybody.
The chairman who disclosed this while addressing journalists in Jalingo stated that when people begin to think that all solutions to their problems must come from the Government, it amount to collective failure.
“If we refuse to pay our taxes and the government in turn did not have enough to take care of our needs, we all are responsible for it. So building a healthy nation is the responsibility of both the government and the citizens. The citizens must also play their roles as individuals to build a state or a nation”. He stated.
Agbaizo noted that as part of the government’s arrangement to get people to contribute in the struggle toward sustaining a better living, the board has introduced the study of Agricultural Science for the primary schools in the state so that pupils would be thought how to change their environment to bring out money.
The board according to him had done enough to ensure that its quality assurance team is empowered so as to enable inspectors go on inspections constantly to see that progress was being made in the various schools.
The chairman said the board also has a forum where all its professionally trained head teachers are always stir to enable them manage their schools very well.
“We have also been able to established school base management committees so that the communities could be involved in supervising. They will remain the eyes and the watch dogs in their own schools. We want the communities to feel that those schools belong to them and not as government schools”. He stated.
The chairman noted that when people feel that the schools belong to the government, there is always a psychological distance that is created which lead them to mal handle some of the government facilities.
Hence, they want to ensure that the traditional leaders, religious leaders and the youth in the communities form part of their schools to ensure a collective progress.
He encouraged Nigerians not to depend entirely on oil to run the country.
According to him, “there are solar cars, solar motorcycles and very many people are no longer using fuel so if all of us decide to depend on oil that is no longer marketable everybody will be in trouble”.
While lamenting the ravage caused by insecurity occasioned by communal crises and farmers herders’ crises in the state, the chairman said crisis anywhere does not profit anybody.
He applauded Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for doing so much to ensure that the tides of insecurity in the state go down to enable farmers go back to their farm.
“Nobody want to invest where there is no peace. That is why the governor has consistently fought that there should be enduring peace established in the state and we have to give him the credit that things have gotten much better. We have seen that the level of security network in the state has tamed the tides of kidnapping drastically that is why our farmers are now going back to their farm”. He said.
