TARABA NUJ GETS ANOTHER CHAPEL

The Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Taraba State Council has inaugurated Worldview Magazine chapel in to the state Council of the Union. The union also swore- in the pioneer exco who will steer the affairs of the chapel in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the union

Those inaugurated were, Jethro Saaior Yerga as chairman, Christiana Babayo as Secretary, Mohammed Salihu Tikka as Vice Secretary, Sarah Mudwa as Treasurer, Richard Iormua as Financial Secretary and Yerima Akila as Vice chairman.Speaking shortly after officially inaugurating the Chapel’s exco, the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of the NUJ, Mr. David Nya congratulated the management of the Worldview Magazine for fulfilling all the requirements needed by the union to become a chapel.

Comr. Nya challenged other media houses operating in the state to emulate Worldview Magazine and follow all the due processes so as to be enlisted into the union to become true journalists. He task journalists to always avoid reporting rumours in order to differentiate themselves from social media writers. According to him, the Taraba State Council of the NUJ would soon perfect its arrangements and published all the names of veteran journalists practicing in the state so as to differentiate quacks and interlopers who just wangle themselves into the profession.

While presenting a brief history of the organization, the Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Williams Ayooso said the idea of establishing the Magazine was conceived in the year 2014 to promote a practice direction that would build a hedge of fairness, objectivity and honesty around the society and sustain the quality of reportage that will broaden the world view of readers on issues of regional, national and international concern.
Mr. Williams revealed that the organization is formally incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission, Federal Republic of Nigeria (CAC/IT/NO.1572654) as Worldview Publications and Creative Services Limited.

He said the organization is also registered with National Library Board of Nigeria (ISSN) and has its TIN number with the Federal Inland Revenue Service obtained in 2019.
“In November 2020, another title, “Taraba NewMission” was added on the stable of the Worldview Publications to give Taraba State a voice by focusing on the activities in the state.” He added

The Editor-in-Chief noted that while Worldview Magazine looks at the global and national space with an online platform to break stories as they unfold,the New Mission magazine grazes the immediate environment of Taraba and the neighboring states. He appreciated the state chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Taraba State Council, Comrade David Nya and his executive council for their tireless efforts towards making the inauguration a reality and pledged that the chapel management would cooperate with the NUJ at all times beginning from the State Council to the national.

Also speaking, a former NUJChairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ukwen noted that the entire society was in a shamble and it is the sole responsibility of journalists to reshape the opinions and thinking of leaders towards having a united spirit that can promote peaceful co-existence and development. He congratulated the management of worldview Magazine and encouraged them to keep the integrity of the journalism profession flying.

The Special Guest of Honour, Chief Bauten Isa in his address commended the resilience, professional expertise and prowess of the Editor-in- Chief Mr. Williams Ayooso and pledged to remain supportive to the chapel at all times.

Earlier in his welcome speech, the group Managing Editor of the Magazine, Mr.Simon Ira Maiyaki, called on Journalists to cultivate the spirit of objectivity and do more of development journalism in order to lift the society out of the numerous challenges it is passing through.

Turn by turn all the various heads of the chapels in the Taraba State Council of NUJ congratulated the new chapel and encouraged the chapelmembers to live up to all the demands of the union as enshrined in its constitution.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated chairman of the chapel Comr. Jethro Yerga who responded on behalf of the new exco of the chapel appreciated the Taraba State Council of NUJ for finding them worthy to be enlisted into the State Council and pledged that the chapel under his leadership will discharge its duties effectively so asto justify the confidence reposed in them.
