THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE IS THE VOICE OF GOD –  GOVERNOR FINTIRI

The Adamawa State Governor elect, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said that the voice of the people who voted for him in the just concluded 2023 Governorship election is the voice of God.

Fintiri made this statement shortly after he was declared winner after the Adamawa State Governorship supplementary election conducted in the state on Tuesday, April 18th 2023.

The governor who won the election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, defeated his All Progressives Congress APC counterpart Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Binani with a clear margin of 32073 Votes after a rerun elections held in the state on Tuesday April 18th 2023.

Addressing the press shortly after the declaration, Givernor Fintiri said,  “today, history has repeat itself. You  have reaffirmed your willingness to support the good work we have started in Adamawa state

” We have reached a consensus that  Adamawa State must work. It is made because we have collectively agreed that we desire a better Adamawa that is lifted from depths of despair to the great high of hope with the belief that each and every one of us is at liberty to aspire to any height without any human hindrance.” He stated.

The governor appreciated Adamawa citizens for their resilience and their patience for showing maturity and maintaining decorum and order in the face of provocative triggers that would have otherwise landed the state in flames.

He said they had demonstrated restraint and civility by waiting patiently for INEC to announce the date for the rerun elections for the affected areas.

“I congratulate my contenders and the leadership of their respective parties for a hard-fought contest. I therefore extend a hand of friendship to all of you. I personally, consider none of you a looser in this race. We are all winners because the people have spoken and Adamawa State has won.

“We are a happy people who rise or fall together as one indivisible people. We have perfected the art of winning for our dear state, this time again we won Adamawa State won “. He reiterated.

Meanwhile, the returning officer if the election, Professor Mohammed Mele who declared the results of the Governorship Supplementary Polls said the PDP candidate, scored 430861 Numbers of votes to defeat his closet opponent, the All Progressives Congress APC candidate Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani who scored 398788 votes.

Mele said Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintir of the PDP after scoring highest numbers of Votes and satisfied all the requirements for the election is here by declared the winner of the 15th February 2023 Governorship elections held in state.

The Returning officer revealed that the numbers of registered Votes at the supplementary election was 42929, total number of Accredited votes was 16423 . Total valid votes 15999 rejected Votes 399 and total votes cast 16398

However, the APC Governorship Candidate Aishatu Dahiru Binani, has objected the declaration saying that it was an unsuccessful attempt to subvert the will of the people.

He stated that the Resident Electoral Commissioner REC was illegally told to stand down by two INEC national commissioners from Abuja who were supposed to be in Adamawa in a supervisory capacity.

 

In a statement signed by her Press Secretary and made available to Journalists on Tuesday, Binani also denied the allegations that she had bribed INEC officials with 2 billion naira to declare her winner of the Governorship elections.

She said the allegations were unfounded wild allegations made by an officer who was being tortured at gunpoint by the agents of the Adamawa State Governor and the Government House police team alongside their political thugs.

“I wish to reiterate that I am a democrat, I have always been a committed democrat and will never do anything to subvert democratic process. I am not do-or-die politician. In the past I have won elections into the House of Representatives and the Senate in a free and fair manner.”

“Even more curious is the nocturnal visit of some INEC national officers to Adamawa State Government house and bizarre declaration same day after the visit that they have taken over the collation through the backdoor, with the Collation and Returning Officers selected by the Governor of Adamawa”. She stated.
