Shutting of Airport against me, most primitive way of exercising power – Taraba Senator

Jethro Yerga, Jalingo

The Senator representing Southern Taraba and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC, Distinguished Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has said that the shutting down of the Pharmacist Danbaba Danfulani Suntai’s Airport last Monday was a calculated attempt to prevent him from landing in the state to access his people.

The Senator who stated this Thursdayday, during a press conference held in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital described the incident as a most primitive way of excercising power as leaders of our great nation.

Recall that Pharmacist Danbaba Suntai’s Airport last Monday was allegedly shut down temporally on ground of maintainance.

However, Senator Bwacha, during the press conference argued that the ugly act was the hand work of some desperate leaders in the state who had provoked a sleeping dog and are having sleepless nights.

Bwacha who maintained that no amount of intimidation would take away the love of his people upon him and his party the APC, cautioned political leaders in the state to shun politics of bitterness, thuggery and violence and play the game according to the rules.

While narrating the incident, the Senator revealed that he was actually supposed to follow the usual Overland that normally convey people from Abuja to Jalingo but he had a very important meeting to attend and so he missed the Overland flight.

He said a friend had offered him an aircraft to carry him to Jalingo and they were about leaving Abuja Airport when they were told that the Jalingo Airport had been closed.

“I knew it was politically motivated. My People who knew I was coming to Jalingo that day came all over to welcome me and the picture they send to me revealed that Jalingo had come back to life.

“The town had gone agog and some one sitting somewhere like Pharaoh, decided that this will not happen before me because I am in charge here. I look at it as a very primitive way of exercising power”. He stated.

Senator Bwacha who also expressed displeasure about the general development of affairs in the state, disclosed that things have fallen apart and the state was gradually sliding to abyss.

He said himself and a number of people whom they started together on a good note, had deemed it necessary to put heads together and restore the glory of Taraba State.

“I do weep and my heart bleeds when I travel across Taraba State. There is no presence of anything that can be called infrastructure. I am thoroughly weaken and discouraged and my morale is low.

“I am however, hopeful, that at the end of the tunel, there is going to be light as Martin Luther King Junior would say, ‘I see the light from afar and I know that we are going to go there to get to the top of the mountain and I crave for your support”. He stated.

The Senator challenged those who had variously written against him to tarnish his image on account of corruption and diversion of constituency projects to come up with emperical evidence of their claims so that he would be made to face the full wrath of the law, adding that he was always ready and willing to offer himself for prosecution.

However, the Media Aid to the Governor of Taraba State, Bala Dan Abu had in a telephone interview, debunked the Senator’s allegation, maintaining that no leader in the State has a hand in the incident alleged by the distinguished Senator.

“Senator Bwacha has been landing in the airport and no one has ever stopped him from landing there.

“Though the management of the airport is in the best position to explain to you what actually happened, I want to tell you authoritatively that neither the Governor nor any other leader in the state knows something about what the Senator had alleged”. He stated.
