1 Killed, another severely butchered in renewed herdsmen attack in Gassol.

One person has been repeatedly killed by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in the late hours of Thursday along Dan-Anacha Borno Kuru Kuru road in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Similarly, a Tiv farmer was attacked and severely butchered on his way to his farm by the same suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in the same location.
Sources in the area disclosed that, armed Fulani herdsmen reportedly blocked Dan-Anacha Borno Kuru Kuru road in the late hours of Thursday attacking Tiv farmers on their way back from their farms.
According to some survivors who spoke to our correspondent on the grounds of anonymity, “Yesterday at around 6:oo to 7:00pm, we were coming back from our farm on bike and a group of well-armed men suspected to be Fulani, attacked us but we escaped narrowly with the help of God.
“Mr. Isaac Majir a tractor operator who went to farm with his tractor, was coming behind us and unfortunately, ran into them and they butchered him to death”.
The central leader of Tiv in Dan-Anacha Chief Daniel Mbateren in a telephone interview with our correspondent also confirmed the attack as narrated by the surviving victims and further identified the dead victim as Isaac Wajir and the severely butchered victim who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital as Mr. Oliver Ndur.
In his words, “The corps of Mr. Wajir was discovered in the early hours of today and reported to the Police and it has since been taken to his village in Ugba Logo LGA by his family members.
Similarly, Mr. Oliver Ndur was going to his farm this morning and he fell victim to the same armed Fulani herdsmen who butchered him close to death”.
Chief Daniel however, lauded the security operatives stationed in Dan-Anacha for their swift efforts to address the situation and called on the Chairman of Gassol and Government of Taraba state to intensify efforts to address the security challenges affecting the area for the common good of all.
The Police Public Relations Officer Taraba State Command Headquarters, Jalingo DSP Kwache Gamboh when contacted over the phone, confirmed the death of Mr. Isaac Majir during the attack.
She said that, security operatives were deployed to take charge of the situation.
